Everbright Environment Chairman and CEO Wang Tianyi meets Tianjin Deputy Mayor Sun Wenkui

On 4 November, Mr. Wang Tianyi, Chairman of the Board and CEO of China Everbright Environment Group Limited ("Everbright Environment" or the "Company") had a meeting with Mr. Sun Wenkui, Deputy Mayor of Tianjin Municipal Government in the Jinghai District of Tianjin City, where they shared views on how to further boost their partnership and promote relevant projects in the district. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Lin Xuefeng, Secretary of CPC Jinghai District Committee; Mr. Jin Huijiang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Jinghai District Committee and Head of Jinghai District; Mr. Qu Haifu, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jinghai District Committee and Deputy Head of Jinghai District; as well as Mr. Yang Shiqiao, Deputy General Manager of Everbright Environment, and Mr. Liu Qiang, Chief Expert of the Company.

Mr. Wang Tianyi first gave an overview of Everbright Environment's business development. He noted that following 17 years' development in the environmental protection industry, the Company has grown into the largest environmental protection enterprise in China, as well as the largest waste-to-energy investor and operator worldwide. This year, it was named Asia's Most Honored Company for the fourth consecutive year and shortlisted in the Top 10 Firms with the Highest Corporate Governance Index Scores in Hong Kong. In addition, the Company's Changzhou Waste-to-energy Project is regarded a demonstrative project, becoming China's first fenceless and fully-open waste-to-energy plant built with public amenities in a residential area. The project has also been selected as one of the 15 primary contact points of the key projects of Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress. While consolidating its traditional environmental protection services such as waste-to-energy and waste water treatment, Everbright Environment has further forayed into other areas including waste sorting, resource recycling and energy-saving lighting. It established a "Five Points in One Line" full value chain dedicated to waste sorting. Xiongan New Area Waste Integrated Treatment Project marks the Company's full engagement in the development of zero-waste cities in China. The Company has also secured multiple urban streetlight retrofitting projects across the country by leveraging its core lighting product, the Everbright New Sodium Lamp.

Mr. Wang Tianyi said that as one of China's four centrally administered municipalities, Tianjin offers a desirable business environment on the back of rapid economic growth, and is therefore an important area for Everbright Environment to invest and grow in. Since the Company signed a strategic partnership agreement with the municipal government of Tianjin in 2018, it has cordially communicated with various departments of the municipal government as well as local districts and counties and secured two waste-to-energy projects in Xiqing and Beichen districts, which are proceeding in a rapid but orderly manner. This has laid a solid foundation for the two parties to deepen the cooperation. Mr. Wang Tianyi added that he hopes Everbright Environment can further enhance communications with Tianjin to jointly propel their partnership in areas such as waste sorting and energy-saving lighting, and eventually build waste-sorting and recycling systems that meet China's conditions and international standards, setting a new example for the business segments and a new benchmark for the environmental protection industry.

Mr. Sun Wenkui said that Everbright Environment has a promising future on the back of its remarkable achievements. The Company has demonstrated its sense of responsibility and capabilities as a state-owned enterprise while being highly efficient and dynamic like a foreign company. Its current development plan aligns with Tianjin's demand for ecological conservation. According to Mr. Sun, Tianjin boasts the largest industrial park that focuses on circular economy in northern China, and is also home to one of the national industrial pilot parks with a circular economy, namely the Tianjin Ziya Economic and Technological Development Area ("Ziya Development Area"). The city is committed to achieving the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of waste in the region. In anticipation of cooperating with a leading environmental protection enterprise like Everbright Environment, Tianjin intends to fully support the Company's investments and project construction in the city, in a bid to inject new vitality into the development of industries related to the circular economy and the construction of urban energy-saving lighting projects.

In the afternoon, Mr. Wang Tianyi visited the Ziya Development Area. He also had a meeting with relevant senior government officials from the Jinghai District and the Ziya Development Area to exchange ideas on launching specific cooperation projects.

Representatives of relevant business segments and projects of Everbright Environment, as well as the senior officials of relevant departments of Tianjin Municipal Government and the local government of Jinghai District, attended the above-mentioned events.
