Everbright Environment Announces First National Key R&D Project Led by the Company


On 22 February 2021, a launching ceremony of the development and application project (the “Project”) on the safe, clean and efficient technologies for incineration of general flammable industrial solid waste was held at the Shenzhen headquarters of China Everbright Environment Limited (“Everbright Environment” or the “Company”). As a major component of the Sino-Austria Government International Technological Innovation Collaboration Scheme, a national key research and development (“R&D”) initiative, the Project marks the first national key R&D project that is led by Everbright Environment, in conjunction with Southeast University, ANDRITZ Group and Montanuniversität Leoben.

The ceremony was attended by Wang Tianyi, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Everbright Environment; industry experts including Chen Yong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Technology Consultant of the Company; Qian Xiaodong, Deputy General Manager of Everbright Environment; Zhao Bin, Special Assistant to CEO of the Company; and Wang Jian, Deputy Director of Policy and Regulation Division at Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission. Some also delivered speeches at the ceremony. There were also a number of guests participating the ceremony through video conferencing systems, including Lei Fengyun, Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Austria; Sebastian Kaiser, Technology Director of ANDRITZ Group; and Roland Pomberger, Principal Professor of Waste Processing Technology and Waste Management, at Montanuniversität Leoben.



Wang Tianyi expressed appreciation for the care and support extended to Everbright Environment by the Chinese Embassy in Austria and Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission. He said that being the largest environmental enterprise in China and a globally renowned environmental group, Everbright Environment has been leading the environmental protection industry for years, striving to realise breakthroughs in technological innovation and international development. In terms of technological innovation, the Company has all but completed the brand new “Four-in-One” layout for technological innovation and research and development. The Company has also obtained the largest number of patents in the world’s waste-to-energy industry, with numerous national and provincial technology-linked honors. In terms of international development, Everbright Environment has been actively participating in the green “Belt and Road” development, having secured multiple environmental protection projects in countries including Vietnam and Poland, which have become benchmark projects in the environmental protection sector.

Wang Tianyi said, “The Project marks the first national key R&D project led by Everbright Environment, the Company’s first international technology collaboration project, and a typical case initiated in the industrial-academic collaboration model. The Project is of great significance in terms of nurturing international collaboration, integrating advantages in manufacturing and technology from both countries, and enhancing exchanges and collaboration on scientific research between domestic institutions of higher education with its global peers. It will also contribute to the innovation and development of green and low-carbon cycle technologies. Everbright Environment will cherish and fully utilise this international collaboration and exchange platform, drive development through technological innovation, and enhance the integration of industries, academics and utilisation, so as to continuously carry out technological innovation relating to solid waste treatment.

Lei Fengyun and Wang Jiang delivered speeches on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Austria and Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission respectively, expressing their appreciation and support to the Project.



Lei Fengyun said in his speech that the Chinese government and its people are highly supportive of ecological conservation, as well as international collaboration in the field of technology innovation. Ecological conservation is one of the key aspects in the Sino-Austria technology collaboration. The Ministry of Science and Technology and Chinese Embassy in Austria will dutifully execute the spirit of Xi Jinping's important speeches and the spirit of the central government in China, actively support the innovation collaboration between China and Austria in the fields such as ecological conservation, environmental protection and energy-linked technologies. As this year marks the 50th anniversary of establishment of the official diplomatic relationship between China and Austria, Lei Fengyun hoped the Chinese and Austrian scientists would work together towards the ecological conservation and energy-linked technologies so as to achieve new and greater achievements.





During the meeting, Wang Tianyi presented letters of appointment to Chen Yong and another four renowned scholars in the industry, recruiting them as members of the Project’s advisory committee. These experts listened to the Project’s execution plan presented by the Project teams from China and Austria, and asked detailed questions, followed by their feedback and suggestions on the Project’s highlights, difficulties and work allocation of each unit. The launching ceremony of the Project in the Shenzhen headquarters of Everbright Environment marks the first national R&D project led by the Company.

The meeting was also attended by the Science and Technology Diplomat of Chinese Embassy in Austria, persons-in-charge of related sectors and project team members of Everbright Environment.
