Everbright International Honored with Four Environmental Protection Technology Awards for Its R&D Efforts

China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") has announced that its environmental protection technologies have garnered several awards in the Sixth China International Forum on Environment and Development and the Fourth China International Exhibition of Achievements in Building Environmentally-Friendly Society.

The events are organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and co-organized by the All-China Environment Federation. The events are to fully showcase the impressive results of the country's strategy to build an environmentally-friendly society and world-class environmentally-friendly advanced technologies and solutions. During the conference, the Group has won the Excellent Results Awards for its combustion control system of mechanical grate furnace, its solid waste leachate treatment technology, its waste water source heat pump central heating and refrigerating technology while being honored with the Innovative Award for its preparation of drinking water through urban waste water technology.

Combustion control system of the mechanical grate furnace

The system is the core part of the automatic control system in municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration which effectively decomposes dioxins. The combustion control system works better than its foreign counterpart while the total investment for localising the system is 30% less than that for delivery and installation of its foreign counterpart. Employing advanced control equipment and optimised control software, the technology realises integrated control of the MSW incineration process. Thus the system ensures safe reduction, recycling and environmental-friendly treatment of MSW, and guarantees safe steam generation in the exhaust gas waste-heat boiler and the energy output of the generator unit while meeting the objective of energy saving and resource recycling. The technology has also been granted an invention patent in the PRC. The Group's Jiangyin Waste-to-energy Plant and Zhenjiang Waste-to-energy Plant also deploy the system and have achieved good treatment results.

Solid waste leachate treatment technology

With a low initial investment and processing costs, the treatment water quality of the solid waste leachate treatment technology has attained the Grade One National Standard. All waste water can be reused, thus achieving zero emission. Biogas produced by an anaerobic process has been collected for electricity generation in order to achieve a more comprehensive utilisation of resources. Some of the processing units have adopted enclosed operations whereby odour has been collected and incinerated in order to avoid air pollution. This technology, which has been granted invention and utility model patents, has been adopted in the Yixing, Changzhou, Jiangyin, Suzhou, Zhenjiang, and Suqian waste-to-energy projects. It helps to address the global problem of achieving low cost and safe solid waste leachate treatment, providing a great impetus to the development of garden-like waste-to-energy plants which purify the air.

Waste water source heat pump central heating and refrigerating technology

The waste water source heat pump is a new type of clean heat utilisation. It fully utilises the effective energy of waste water to produce energy that can be adopted in central heating and refrigeration of large building clusters while saving energy and reducing emissions and providing collateral social benefit. This technology has been adopted in Everbright Water (Boxing) Limited, Everbright Water (Zhoucun) Limited, Waste Water Treatment Plant No 3 of Everbright Water (Zibo) Limited and Zibo High-tech Zone Waste Water Source Heat Pump Project. This technology has pioneered a new way for the integrated recycling and utilisation of treated waste water.

Preparation of drinking water through urban waste water technology

The Group developed a new integration technology to prepare drinking water from urban waste water and open up a new way for waste water resource utilisation. With low investment and operation cost, it has a high potential popularization value. With the granting of an invention patent in China and earning the prize of Jinan Science and Technology Award, the technology meets internationally accepted standards by passing scientific and technological achievement appraisal which was organized by Jinan Science & Technology Bureau.
