Everbright Environment Included in S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2021

26 February 2021, Hong Kong – China Everbright Environment Group Limited ("Everbright Environment" or the "Company") (SEHK: 257) is pleased to announce that the Company has been included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 20211 (the "Yearbook 2021") for its excellent performance and continuous progress in sustainable development. This is the fourth time that the Company has been included in the sustainability yearbook.

The Yearbook 2021 aims to identify and commend companies around the world that achieved outstanding results in sustainable development in the last year. Three companies in Mainland China and six companies in Hong Kong were included in the yearbook of 2021. According to the Yearbook 2021, Everbright Environment falls into the Commercial Services & Supplies category, and it was categorised for the first time as a Hong Kong enterprise2 instead of a Mainland Chinese company. Under the Commercial Services & Supplies category, only eight out of 87 enterprises globally being assessed were included in the Yearbook 2021, while Everbright Environment was the only enterprise from Mainland China and Hong Kong that has been included in the yearbook.

Starting from this year, S&P Global took the lead and published the sustainability yearbook. The yearbook focuses on assessing corporate sustainability via environmental, social, governance and economic dimensions. It is regarded as the world’s most scalable, comprehensive and influential publication dedicated to sustainable development assessment. According to the Yearbook 2021, over 7,000 enterprises from 61 countries and regions participated in the sustainability assessment. In order to be listed in the yearbook, companies must be within the top 15% of their industries and must achieve scores within 30% of their industry’s top-performing companies. Only 631 companies with top scores made it into the Yearbook 2021.

Manjit Jus, Global Head of ESG Research, S&P Global, said: "We congratulate Everbright Environment for achieving a place in the Sustainability Yearbook 2021. With over 7,000 companies assessed, inclusion in the Yearbook is a true statement of corporate sustainability excellence."

Mr. Wang Tianyi, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Everbright Environment, said: "Following our inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for a fifth consecutive year last November, Everbright Environment was again recognised by another international authority for the Group’s achievements in sustainable development, which was very encouraging. As a Chinese enterprise focusing on ecological and environmental protection, Everbright Environment adheres to its aspiration to ‘Create Better Investment Value and Undertake More Social Responsibility’, by incorporating the national development strategies in its business operations and taking into practice the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Group is committed to creating a win-for-all situation that integrates economic, environmental and social well-being through high-quality and efficient environmental services. Going forward, Everbright Environment will actively identify external trends, take actions accordingly, and bravely step outside of its comfort zone to push forward strategic transformation and high-quality development with greater persistency. It will continue to contribute to the green, low-carbon and sustainable development, domestically and even worldwide, while stimulating its own growth."
